Police Investigate Suspicious Santa Barbara Bank Incident

Santa Barbara police officers are investigating a suspicious incident at a downtown bank Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1:24 p.m. at the Chase Bank at 1302 State Street.

Police said they are looking for a male suspect, in his 30’s, with a baseball cap, and a rain jacket.

The man left on foot.

Investigators say the man may have had “mental issues” and because of his behavior, the staff called police. Multiple units responded.

At first, it was thought to be a potential robbery.

It is now being investigated as a disturbance.

Customers told NewsChannel 3 at the scene the bank was closed briefly during the investigation and they used either the outside teller machines or had to go to another branch.
