Mission Creek Widening Project Carves Out a New Area

Heavy equipment has arrived to begin carving out the latest phase of the Mission Creek widening project in Santa Barbara.

The work has begun on Mason St. with the demolition of a small building.

Crews will work into 2015 on the project which is one in a number of bridge and creek improvement projects that have been going on for several years.

When this is done, there is still a project where the creek goes through Cabrillo Blvd. at the waterfront that still needs to be replaced as well.

More work on two hotels, a parking structure, and a museum will also be taking place in the general area of the next three years.
