Santa Maria Pursuit Leads to Drug Bust

Law enforcement arrested a driver after he led them on a high speed chase in Santa Maria.

Police say Juan Lopez was speeding on Highway 166 Sunday afternoon. The chase reached speeds up to 95 mph.

Police said Lopez stopped at Tepusquet Road, and got out of the car and started running, and was eventually caught.

A search of Lopez’s car netted close to 50 pounds of marijuana, police said.

Lopez was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.
