Brownley Barely Ahead in Razor-Thin Race for Congress

Ventura County’s 26th Congressional District is one of a handful of “toss-up” races in California.

As of early Wednesday morning, the race was still too close to call, with Democrat Julia Brownley taking a very slight lead over Republican Jeff Gorell.

Brownley currently represents the 26th congressional district which covers a good portion of Ventura County. Previously Ventura County was part of another district represented for 13 terms by Republican Elton Gallegly, who didn’t run in 2013. That is when Brownley beat her Repuublican opponent in a very tight race.

The 2014 election is also very tight. This time Brownley is facing off against, Republican Jeff Gorell who is a California State Assemblyman and an Afghan war veteran.

The democrats are doing everything they can to keep Brownley’s seat. Just a week before election day, former President Bill Clinton came to town to show his support for Brownley.

Since the race between Brownley and Gorell is so close it could be days before we have a final outcome.
