Santa Maria Man Arrested For DUI After Injury Crash

A Santa Maria man is behind bars after police say he drove under the influence, crashed into another car, and tried to flee the scene.

It happened in Santa Maria last night at the intersection of Enos Drive and Miller Street. That’s where a Chrysler 300 crashed into a Pontiac Grand Am. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital.

Police say the driver of the Chrysler, 29-year-old Juan Salazar tried to leave, but was detained by a witness and later arrested by police..

He’s charged with felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and driving while unlicensed. His bail is set at $100,000.
