Former District Attorney Thomas Sneddon Dies

Former Santa Barbara County District Attorney Thomas Sneddon died Saturday.

Sneddon passed away at Cottage Hospital after battling cancer.

He was elected to the district attorney’s post in 1983 and retired in 2006.

He is well known for pursuing child molestation charges against Michael Jackson twice, drawing intense criticism from the pop start’s fans.

Current District Attorney Joyce Dudley said he should be remembered as a pioneer in his field.

“He really worked hard to make sure that the vulnerable victims were being supported, sexual assault, domestic, violence, he really cared about making a difference,” said Dudley.

Sneddon was 73 years old.
