Garden Court Halloween Sweets Help a Friend Living with Cancer

The Garden Court Independent Living Center in Santa Barbara has been raising money through a bake sale this week to help a former director who is living with cancer.

Sandy Smith was on hand for the event where home made cookies and brownies were sold.

She said while she was a director, up to a few years ago, they would have bake sales and help charities. This time it is for an individual, and she is getting the financial help for some of her medical care.

She called it the best medicine, and a phenomenal response.

The seniors made Halloween cookies, which sold out down to the last crumb. Then they rebounded with an extra large batch of brownies for anyone coming by.

Signs were up on Victoria and De La Vina Streets to bring in passersby, many who were thrilled to help the cause and walk away with a bag of sweets.
