State Street Christmas Tree Tradition in Jeopardy

You might think the Grinch is trying to ruin Christmas in Santa Barbara.

The Downtown Organization which puts together the annual holiday parade needs to find a tall tree before the holiday parade in early December.

Southern California Edison no longer pays to cut and transport a tree from SCE property for the annual display in front of the Arlington Theater. But the company is willing to give the city a tree from SCE property near Fresno.

Downtown Organization members said it would cost about $20,000 for the tree to be cut down and hauled to Santa Barbara.

That is where you can help. If you know of a business or someone who will sponsor the tree or donate and deliver another tree contact Maggie Campbell at the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization 805-979-4336.
