4-Hour Standoff in Ventura Ends Peacefully

A four-hour police standoff started just after 9 Friday morning on the 200 block of Comstock Drive off Ventura Avenue in Ventura.

Ventura police say Dimas Diaz entered his ex-wife’s mother’s home while she was watching his three kids. Once inside, he refused to leave.

When officers arrived, Diaz was standing outside the home in the middle of the street claiming he had a gun in his waistband.

A reverse 911 call went out to residents as sheriff’s K-9 units, helicopters, the Ventura Police SWAT team and negotiators arrived on scene.

Diaz finally gave up without incident just after 1 Friday afternoon. Police say he did not have a gun on him.
