Search and Rescue Crews to Look for High Speed Chase Evidence

Sheriff’s investigators said search and rescue crews will look for drug paraphernalia and stolen property Saturday that may have been thrown from a car during a pursuit.

The chase started in Buellton Friday afternoon and ended at a private ranch in Santa Barbara off Alamar Avenue an hour later. At one point the Jeep, traveling up to 100 miles-an-hour, almost hit a school bus.

Officers arrested 34-year-old Shane Lydick of Thousand Oaks, 36-year-old Kristy
DeLaCerna of Thousand Oaks and 24-year-old Camilla DePerna, also known as Jessica Walters of Los Osos.

Officers said the same Jeep and the same women were involved in another chase earlier this month involving two high-risk traffic stops near the Chumash Casino. They said DePerna got away in another car.

Officers said it appears Lydick and DePerna took turns driving. DePerna is accused of hitting a patrol car before crashing into a tree and destroying the Willowbrook Ranch gate.

All three suspects are acquaintances, but officers said the chase may have began with a domestic dispute between two of them in a gas station on the 600 block of Avenue of Flags in Buellton.
