SWAT Response Rouses Santa Maria Neighborhood
One man was arrested early Thursday morning when a northwest Santa Maria neighborhood was awakened by actions of the police department’s SWAT team.
Tyrone Leekins, 31, was arrested on charges of lewd acts with a minor.
Neighbors near West Taylor and Polk Streets were roused by the SWAT team response shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Thursday. The team was there to serve search warrants on two people.
Investigators determined the man listed on the other arrest warrant matched someone already in custody who had used the fake name of David Wilkerson. Officers determined Wilkerson was actually 20-year-old Lovell McKellop, who was then re-booked under his real name on charges stemming from an armed robbery on South Thornburg. McKellop also now faces an additional charge of providing a false identity.
Investigators did not believe the crimes alleged against Leekins and McKellop were related to each other.
