Rocket Fizz Sweetens Up Downtown Santa Barbara

Rocket Fizz has uncapped a new store in downtown Santa Barbara.

The chain’s original store is in Camarillo, but expansion plans went into several other cities and states before a Santa Barbara site was found. Already it’s been a bright addition to the popular downtown area.

The sweet spot is near State and Carrillo in a mid-block location.

There are countless flavors of retro, unique and rare sodas. Some have flavors like, bacon, pumpkin, and something called “dog drool.” There’s even one named after “Snooki” from the TV show Jersey Shore.

There’s also a range of root beers and flavored sodas from all over the country. Some are custom made, others are from larger soda companies, and Rocket Fizz also has its own label.

Eye candy is at every turn with stacks of sweet treats – many you may not have seen in years. Some are from out of the country.

The taffy selection has over 80 flavors that go well beyond the basic chewy tastes.

Rocket Fizz also stocks sugar free candy and marks them clearly in the display areas.

“We do carry retro items and we carry the new items too – for everybody all ages,” said store employe Marissa Cosio. “I have some grand parents who say ‘oh my God’ (when they see a classic item) and some kids saying ‘look grandma…look!'”

Cosio says just a walk through the store can change your mood. “It’s a good fun store and people are always leaving with a smile.”

She also sees a lot of smiles after guests see witty signs on the walls that customers can buy along with reprints of classic rock concert posters featuring the Doors, Grateful Dead, Michael Jackson, Elvis, The Eagles and more.

Rocket Fizz also has plans to expand into Solvang in the coming months.
