Hearts Therapeutic Needs New Donations for Horse Riding Program to Help Children and Adults

The Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Center is expanding its facility and services which uses horses to help children and adults with a wide range of challenges.

At a luncheon held in the Earl Warren Showgrounds, drawings for an upgraded facility in the Goleta Valley were shown.

About 350 people attended.

Director Kirby Gillispie said, ” there are so many people who can be helped by therapeutic riding. We have people with cognitive issues, emotional issues and people with emotional issues. Certainly people with physical issues.”

The center is also working with war vets and children with cancer.

“It’s not just people with disabilities. Everybody has problems disabled or not. Hearts is great for that. Hearts is there for anybody,” said Dani Schirmer who has participated in the program for several years.

She spoke to the luncheon about the uplifting experience she has had and how it will help many others in the community at the growing new location.
