San Luis Obispo County Administers Free Flu Vaccines

On Sunday the County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency offered free flu shots to all community members ages two years and older during a mass vaccination.

In the span of three hours, health experts administered around 1,300 vaccines.

The free vaccines are offered every other year.

This year the shots were given at two locations South County Regional Center in Arroyo Grande and Colony Park Community Center in Atascadero.

The agency said this promises to be one of the county’s biggest single-day clinics, but the purpose is greater than just providing free flu vaccine to the public. These “mass vaccination exercise” aims to prepare county and city employees to administer vaccinations rapidly in the event of a significant public health threat to the community.
