Amtrak Train Collides with Cars near Santa Maria

Emergency crews responded to an Amtrak train that collided with three cars just south of Guadalupe.

Officials said the Amtrak passenger train crashed into three cars near the intersection of Highway 1 and Brown Road. Two of the three cars were empty inside. One person was able to exit the car just before the train made contact.

Santa Barbara County Fire spokesperson said one person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. Monday. Guadalupe fire crews also responded to the scene.

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of the accident.
