Lucky Workers Find Relief From the Heat at Company Day at the Beach

A Goleta company scheduled its employee picnic weeks ago at Goleta Beach. When they arrived, it was one of the hottest days of the year, a tri-tip and chicken barbecue lunch was cooking and they were off for the rest of the day.

It was a great way to escape the heat wave gripping the area.

Nearby thermometers were reading 91 degrees.

Dharamesh Patel with the Trisep company said, “for our employees just to come out work a half day and to come out and get paid for having fun and have some great Santa Maria style barbeque. Everyone will come in Monday, happy.”

Over the grill was Darrell Cosand from “That Guy BBQ” in Santa Maria. Sweltering heat could not keep him from getting the meal perfectly done he said. He just had to stay on the right side of the grill when the winds blew the searing heat out towards him.

Ahead, he said was even more work – because the demand is high right now.

“Oh I am going right now over to the St. Joseph – Santa Maria high school game and then another barbeque for tomorrow so I am pretty booked for the whole weekend,” said Cosand.

The heat wave will have a hold on the area for the weekend before it lets up.
