Early Morning Accident in Mussel Shoals Kills One

An early morning accident Thursday claimed the life of a man who crashed his mid-sized sedan on the Mussel Shoals offramp.

It happened at 4:15 a.m. just off southbound Highway 101.

The 2002 Kia Optima was on the offramp when it struck the concrete jersey wall and several traffic signs, flipped on its side, then slid across the roadway into the driveway of a home on Old Pacific Coast Highway.

The responding fire crew pronounced the driver dead at the scene. There were no passengers. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The Mussel Shoals offramp was closed for several hours while crews cleared the wreckage.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Ventura Area California Highway Patrol office at (805) 477-4100.
