Restaurant in Buellton Serving up Unique Food to Santa Ynez Valley

A Buellton couple has been catering out of the Santa Ynez valley for over a decade and they’ve become popular for serving some interesting dishes at their restaurant they opened last year.

Industrial Eats in Buellton has become a local favorite, which combines unique cuisine and casual dining

Chef and co-owner Jeff Olsson said, “For a while we had the beef tongue pastrami and a lamb tongue salad. That was pretty cool to have two tongues on the menu and we had pig ear pizza on.”

From livers and hearts to even goose neck barnacles, Jeff likes to push the limits with food.

Jeff and his wife Janet have been in the catering business for 14 years.

Their company, New West Catering, spans from Malibu to Hearst Castle and they’ve even served the King of Pop.

“When Michael Jackson was still around, we did a thousand people for lunch and dinner at his place. That was interesting,” said Jeff.

Besides the unusual fare, their ever-changing menu has become popular among the locals

Co-owner Janet Olsson said, “Once people come in, with the communal seating they see their friends it’s just a fun place to be.”

And the only way to cook the food is with the two wood pizza ovens.

“I decided to not put in a conventional line, a conventional cooking line with stoves and ovens and deep fryers and grills so all we have are these two wood-burning pizza ovens,” said Jeff.

The restaurant has been open for nine months, which started from idea of using high end ingredients he had next door at the catering company.

Jeff explained, “It’s better than I could have expected and hoped. It’s been great. It has definitely been embraced by the locals, which I think is key to succeeding here.”

Now industrial eats has grown into something new and unique to all the diners in the valley.
