Man Arrested For Allegedly Starting Ventura Brush Fire

The foothill fire that broke out in Ventura is now 100 percent contained. One person is behind bars Tuesday.

The fire broke out just after 1 p.m. Monday near Harmon Canyon near Foothill and Kimball roads. Ventura County Sheriff’s officials saw Garret Smith running from the area of the fire. He was arrested in the 7500 block of foothill road on suspicion of arson.

The fire burned about 50 acres.

Fire officials say they are watching the winds and full control is expected at 7 p.m. No structures have been damaged.

One fire fighter suffered minor injuries.
