“Here’s the Scoop” is known for premium gelato in Santa Barbara, and this weekend the store will be famous for an original avocado ice cream recipe.
150 gallons of avocado ice cream will be prepared for the California Avocado Festival taking place for three days beginning Friday in Carpinteria.
It is the largest free festival of its kind in California.
100,000 visitors are expected to attend to hear music, taste foods and enjoy everything related to the avocado.
The avocado ice cream is now being prepared at Here’s the Scoop and owner Ellie and Bob Patterson say it will be creamy, sweet and have a smooth avocado flavor.
“Initially we tried a couple of approaches but they really wanted the pure avocado to come through and that’s what we made for them. A flavor where you only taste that avocado taste. It came out amazing and we are very proud of it,” said Ellie Patterson.
The ice cream will only be sold at the festival this weekend, not in the store.
Funds raised will go to Carpinteria charities.
