Fire Out At Vandenberg Air Force Base

A fire broke out at Vandenberg Air Force Base around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on Santa Lucia Canyon Road.

Around 3 p.m., the Vandenberg Hot Shot firefighting crew tweeted the fire was stopped at 7.7 acres.

As of 3:55 p.m., four Santa Barbara County engines were assisting Vandenberg in mopping up the area.

Earlier in the day at 1:40 p.m., the fire was estimated at 2-5 acres and was contained but not under control.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department originally sent seven engines, two dozers, one water tender and a helicopter to help Vandenberg Fire Department combat the flames.
