World Suicide Prevention Day Raises Awareness

People held candles and talked about suicide victims and survivors outside Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Barbara Wednesday night to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

A similar candlelight vigil was held in Carpinteria.

Suicide survivor Anthony Rodriguez shared his story and said he once held someone who died in his arms from suicide.

He said the Glendon Association and the Santa Barbara Response Network provide psychological first aid.

A suicide hotline is manned around the clock at (800) 699-5608.
