Cafe Del Sol Closes But May Reopen Friday After Liquor License Issue

The Cafe del Sol Restaurant in Santa Barbara has closed down – for now – but it may reopen as soon as Friday.

Located at the edge of the Andree Clark Bird Refuge, the restaurant has been popular for Mexican food in a setting at the intersection where Santa Barbara meets Montecito.

The last meals were reportedly served Saturday night.

A padlock and chain are around the iron bars at the entrance gate.

Two signs are on the property that say the restaurant will be “closed the rest of today.”

NewsChannel Three has been told the restaurant may open again as soon as Friday if issues can be worked out. There are many issues to resolve according to restaurant sources, and those who attended a farewell party for about 100 guests Saturday night.

An alcohol license was suspended in mid-August.

The restaurant has also asked its customers, in an on line request, to help with financing to pay fees to reinstate the alcohol license.
