Family and Friends Gather to Remember Teen Killed in Car Crash

Family, friends and community members gathered on Saturday in Santa Barbara to remember a San Marcos High School student killed in a car crash.

The memorial service for 16 year-old Daniel Perez was held at Calvary Chapel. There was a paddle-out at East Beach after the service.

Perez was killed in a wrong way accident on the 101 freeway in Carpinteria on August 27, after he attended the first day of classes.

The high school junior is remembered by those who knew him as a guy who always had a smile on his face and a person who never had anything bad to say to anyone.

Perez was considered an exceptional student-athlete who excelled in the game of baseball.

One of his coaches said, “It’s a huge loss, an incredible tragic loss when you lose any child. But, certainly the likes of a person like Dan Perez, who was just loved by everyone.”
