Educators Takes ALS Challenge Friday

School Superintendent David Cash and about 40 Santa Barbara Unified School District administrators lined up on the front lawn of Santa Barbara High School Friday afternoon and poured buckets of ice water over their heads.

It was part of the ALS Ice Bucket challenge that has been raising money and awareness about the disease.

The group dedicated the event to former schools chief Mike Castin who died last year from ALS, aslo known as Lou Gehrigs disease.

Many of the participants wrote $100 checks for ALS.

And before they got soaked, they challenged city council members in Santa Barbara and Goleta to be next.
