Cave Collapse Rescue in More Mesa Area

A teenager is in the hospital in serious condition after a partial cave collapse in the More Mesa area.

The collapse happened at 8:30 PM Saturday near Orchid Drive and Austin Road. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says an 18-year-old was in a cave in the side of the cliff when it started to collapse on him.

It took rescue crews twenty minutes to get him out. The teen is at Cottage Hospital with major head injuries. No one else was hurt.
