Plane Overturns At Santa Maria Airport

Officials are investigating a plane that overturned at the Santa Maria Airport. The accident happened around 1 p.m. Friday.

Santa Maria City firefighters responded to a private plane that overturned after landing. The plane’s nose flipped then the aircraft landed on its backside.

Officials said a pilot and two passengers were on board.

All three people were treated on scene for minor injuries.

Airport managers said one arriving aircraft had to be diverted to a different runway. Otherwise no other flights were impacted by this incident.

Authorities are working to confirm the cause of the crash.
