Construction Site Fall Injures Two Workers on Santa Barbara Mesa

Two construction workers came crashing down when a scaffolding fell apart while they were working on a two story home on Shoreline Drive in Santa Barbara this morning.

Santa Barbara City Fire Captain Gary Pitney said one had back and arm injuries. The other man had a leg injury, but gave a thumbs up to a co worker as he was taken away on a gurney.

The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Santa Barbara City Fire Engine 6, a City Fire Rescue crew and two AMR ambulance trucks were called to the scene.

The men were behind the home, which was in a wooden frame phase, at the time of the accident.
It’s unknown why the scaffolding collapsed.

They were 14 feet above the ground at the time working on a framing project.

Pitney said the scaffolding had been in use for several day at the work site.

Both men were taken to Cottage Hospital.
