Red Flag Signs Posted by Homeowners Group as Part of a Preparation Plan

One Santa Barbara neighborhood has been very proactive when it comes to fire warnings.

With high heat and low humidity over the weekend, plus a forecast for strong winds, signs saying “Red Flag Alert in effect” were posted by the Eucalyptus Hill Homeowners Association.

The signs were on many streets around the Santa Barbara Riviera in the populated hills that reach towards Montecito.

The residents also have an email messaging system, and portable radios to communicate with block leaders if an emergency breaks out.

They have also discussed and practiced the “ready-set-go ” evacuation plan recommended by fire agencies if they need to leave their homes because of a wildland fire in their area.

The signs came down when the weather conditions cooled down and were not as critical.
