Surfers Warn Novices About High Surf

A former Rincon Classic surf champion expects the biggest waves of the year this week.

But Pete Mussio and other workers at the Beach House surf shop in Santa Barbara said beginners should beware of waves that could even knock spectators down.

Some communities are building berms and handing out sandbags to prevent flooding.

The increased waves will be coming from a storm of Mexico’s Pacific Coast.

Surfers said they will be up early checking in with each other online before they decide where to go.

Similar storms have knock pilings off the piers in Ventura and Port Hueneme.

Crews will be keeping an eye out for damage.
