Plea for Help from Family of Murdered Santa Maria Man

As Javier Limon Jr. stares at a collection of photographs of his late father Javier Sr., other grieving Limon family members are asking for help from the community in solving his murder mystery.

“I want answers of what happened to my brother”, says Susan Limon Corona, sister of Javier LImon Sr., “I know he’s at peace, but you know I don’t want this to happen to anybody else.”

Fieldworkers found the body of 37 year old Javier Limon Sr. last week face down in the dirt next to an irrigation canal near the entrance to Guadalupe Dunes Beach.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department says an autopsy shows Limon died from multiple gunshots.

So far no arrests have been made in the case.

“I want the police to work very hard so we can know what happened”, Limon Corona says, “you know there’s somebody out there that did this, we want the community to come together and help us.”

Family members say Javier Limon Sr. struggled with physical ailments and addiction problems that left him unable to hold a job and on county probation which he violated on occasion over the years.

They say he was on a waiting list to enter a residential treatment facility and was committed to turning his life around.

“He went to a program in Lompoc for rehabilitation, he was there for a month, and they were supposed to send him to Santa Barbara for continuation, but Probation said we’re going to give you more time and supposedly there were no beds”, Limon Corona says, “they knew that he needed help and so you know maybe he could have been saved, maybe this would not have happened if he had gotten the help he needed.”

As for a possible motive to his killing, Limon Corona rules out drugs, insists her brother was never a gang member and stresses he was well known and well liked in the community.

“I know it didn’t have to do with drugs, I am almost positive because he didn’t live that lavish life”, Limon Corona says, “my brother was very loved, you know of course there’s going to be people that don’t like you if they know that a lot of people love you or you are well known, as you can see, a lot of people knew him, he was known in the community, he had a lot of friends.”

The Limon family is urging anyone with information about the shooting death of Javier Limon Sr. to come forward and report it anonymously to local law enforcement.

“I just want them to, if they know anything, to please say something, it doesn’t have to come to us, the detectives are keeping quiet, if you say anything its private, they are not going to say your name”, Limon Corona says, “nobody deserves this, no matter what he did, he was not a murderer, he was not a child molester, he was a good human being with a big heart, there’s no reason why they would do this.”

Funeral services for Javier Limon Sr. are planned for Tuesday morning in Nipomo and Santa Maria.
