Hwy 101 Re-Opens at El Capitan State Beach

The California Highway Patrol re-opened northbound traffic lanes on Highway 101 at El Capitan State Beach after an accident involving a recreational vehicle.

The northbound lanes of Highway 101 were shut down when the RV rolled onto its side. The cause appears to be wind created by a passing semi truck, which caused the driver of the RV to lose control. The vehicle also leaked fluids as a result of the accident.

The accident snarled weekend northbound traffic. The wreckage was cleared and the freeway re-opened just before 6:30 p.m.
