Bomb Threat Cleared at UCSB’s Campbell Hall

UCSB Police have cleared Campbell Hall, finding nothing after a bomb threat was called in around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.

A conference was going on at the time. Those who were forced to leave the building have now been allowed to return inside.

Yellow crime scene tape was placed around the building as police investigated, but has now been removed.

UC Santa Barbara Police Lt. Mark Signa said several agencies were called to the scene to help with the evacuation and investigation.

“We called the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department to assist us to make sure no one goes in or out, we also call agencies with a dog, such as
Cal State Northridge which was in the area. They provided a bomb dog,” said Signa. “It’s a unified front. We all work together.”

Foot traffic was light in the area, and the bike racks near the building were not as jammed as you would see when school is in session.
