Lompoc Teen Killed in Highway 246 Crash

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a fatal car crash that happened Thursday between Buellton and Lompoc on Highway 246.

A 17-year-old named Skylar Kindschy, from Lompoc, was killed and another was seriously injured in the crash.

The accident happened just after 1:30 p.m. Officials said for an unknown reason, Kindschy crossed over double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on to another driver.

The other driver, also from Lompoc, 62-year-old Jocelyn Presson, sustained major injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage then airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Authorities said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
