Goleta School District Provides Counseling After Death of Classmates

Monday’s stabbings have been a tragedy for the whole Goleta community. Nicolas Holzer not only killed his parents but also his two sons and the family dog.

Thursday School officials made their first attempt to made the hearts of their students after losing a fellow classmate.

“Parents and families have called and expressed that their child is having a difficult time with it,” said Bridget Braney, principal at Foothill Elementary.

Sebastian Holzer was a seventh grader at La Colina Junior High School and Vincent Holzer attended Foothill Elementary. Both boys affected many lives and therefore school officials will be providing free counseling on campus for students, parents, and faculty.

“I’m a principal not a counselor and that is why we have our counselors on campus. They will be the professionals that will be able to address this in a more comprehensive way,” said Braney.

Counseling will be available at compassion centers on Thursday, August 14 and Friday, August 15 at La Colina Junior High School and Foothill Elementary School.
