Broken Pipe Sends Water into Nearly Finished Theater Project at La Cumbre Junior High

The nearly finished $2.5 million La Cumbre Jr. High Theater renovation in Santa Barbara has been soaked by a broken water pipe near the building.

The early morning break last week was discovered quickly but the water found its way into the theater and soaked both the new carpet and wood around the first few rows before it could be stopped.

The Santa Barbara School District says insurance will cover the repairs.

The nearly finished project, which involved major upgrades and restoration throughout the building, will only have a slight delay.

The problem was not linked to the current project or construction crew and the break was outside the theater.
