Local Company Part of PGA Championship

A small piece of the Central Coast will be in Louisville, Kentucky this week for the 96 th PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club. In fact, several hundred pieces will be there. Once again, Malcolm DeMille, Inc. has designed and created money clips, which serve as official identification badges for each contestant in the 156-player field.

The Nipomo-based company has provided money clips for the PGA Championship for nearly 20 years. “It’s great, it’s given us a lot of name recognition,” said Malcolm DeMille, president of the company that has called the Central Coast home for nearly 25 years. “Having the PGA Championship as one of our accounts for so many years is a big plus.”

In addition to the player money clips, similar products, including jewelry are also given to others associated with the tournament as well. “Each year we’ll design and create a money clip that’s given to the executives and the personnel within the PGA of America and their supporters and then also wives and associates.”

Those who are fans of professional golf have undoubtedly seen many Malcolm DeMille products and may not have even realized it. “We also do a lot of trophies that we custom design and create for individual events,” said DeMille. Those events include about 15 tournaments on the PGA Tour and Champions tour.

The company creates all of their trophies in Nipomo, beginning with the conceptual process to the final polishing of a finished product. “We try very, very hard to make great product that people enjoy and when people say wow when they see our stuff, that’s awesome!” said DeMille.

Trophies produced by the company have been won by every imaginable big name player over the past two decades, including Tiger Woods, who has hoisted a DeMille-made trophy on several occasions. “All the guys in the shop and all the people that are involved in our company, they all get excited every weekend that our trophies are on display and they get a real kick out of it,” said DeMille.

Next month, the company will also have a prominent role at golf’s next big international event, the Ryder Cup. “It’s similar to the PGA Championship. We do custom design product featuring the logo. It will be played at Glen Eagles in Scotland this year,” said DeMille.

Malcolm DeMille, Inc. has been located in Nipomo for about 10 years. Previously, the company was based in Santa Maria. In addition to its golf awards, DeMille also produces several other items, including jewelry, belt buckles, cufflinks, bag tags, key chains, wine stoppers and much more.
