Adams Elementary School Getting New Library

Construction has begun on a new library at Adams Elementary School in Santa Barbara.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday morning.

The six-thousand square foot building will house 15,000 books and provide additional seating for students. A storytelling area and outdoor reading patio are also part of the design.

“I was an Adams parent,” school board president Kate Parker said. “I started here back in 2001 and we were always going ‘where is the new library, where is the new library’ so it is fabulous to see it finally happening for future students.”

The $5.4 million project is using energy efficient materials and is being paid for by a voter approved measure.
