Fiesta Arrests May Surpass Last Year’s Totals

Santa Barbara Police Sgt. Riley Harwood is tracking arrests during Old Spanish Days.

During the first two days of fiesta officers made 31 felony arrests, just four fewer than total felony arrests during the five-day event last year.

Harwood said the arrests involved drugs such as cocaine, meth and pharmaceuticals.

Officer started increasing enforcement early. The night shift is noticing a larger crowd this year too.

Police said they just want people to have a good time and get home safely.
