Biologists Test Dead Whale Tissue
A dead whale floated into port at Naval Base Ventura County. The 52 foot “Fin” whale was discovered Tuesday night.
Biologists from the National Marine Fisheries service took tissue samples.
They said the whale may have been struck by a ship in the shipping lanes off the Channel Islands.
The whale was towed out of the harbor and beached to allow NOAA biologists to do more testing Thursday.
