The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department is reporting lower major crime figures in Carpinteria where the staff serves at the Police Department under a contract with the county.

Lt. Brad McVay is presenting his report to council members tonight.

The numbers show no homicides in the last year in the city.

One area of concern is stolen cars. There were 20 of them in 2013, along with 50 burglaries.

Overall, major crimes are down from statistics reported in 2012.
