Rescued Dog Mistaken as Tumbleweed Looks For New Home

In Santa Maria, a small dog named “Ferbie” is winning the hearts of everyone who meets him.

He was picked up as one of the animal shelter’s worst cases of neglect and, today, Ferbie is one clean and well-groomed dog today.

A shelter officer thought he was a tumbleweed slowly rolling across a road east of Santa Maria.

He looked closer, and upon discovering the tumbleweed was actually a dog, brought it back to the animal shelter.

They clipped a couple pounds of matted fur off Ferbie and removed an eye.

The shelter says it could have taken a couple years for Ferbie’s fur to get so tangled, which gives an idea of how long he may have been neglected for.

They think he was previously a loved dog who was dumped off.

Today, Ferbie is ready for adoption.

The Santa Barbara County animal shelter in Santa Maria asks anyone who is interested to visit them.
