Mechanics Blew Up Motors To Raise Scholarship Funds

The 9th Annual Blow The Motor Night blew up donated car motors.

Mechanics also blew up air bags and blew the hood right off a car.

The explosive event that included a tri-tip dinner at the Elks Lodge in Goleta is the Independent Automotive Professionals Association’s largest fundraiser of the year.

All the money raised goes toward IAPA scholarships for local high school and Santa Barbara City College students.

Participants placed friendly bets on the amount of time it would take each car engine to blow.

The cars included an old Jaguar, a Saturn and two SUVs.

The car bodies can still be used but the engines will have to be replaced.
