Former Montecito Jeweler To Appear In Court

A well-known Montecito jeweler is scheduled to appear in a Santa Barbara County courtroom today. Prosecutors say 66-year David Tallman was behind a bomb scare that evacuated an entire Montecito neighborhood on June 7th and closed down Highway 101 for a time.

Detectives say Tallman threatened to blow up his home in the 13-hundred block of Virginia and Olive Roads. Police say he had several acetylene tanks and a number of guns at his residence.

The stand-off with Tallman lasted five hours. He finally surrendered and now faces charges of making criminal threats and resisting arrest.
