Blondes Vs. Brunettes Football Game Hopes to Score Funds for Alzheimer’s Association

Blondes square off with brunettes in a charity powderpuff football game this weekend to raise money for the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The fundraiser will take place at the Santa Barbara Polo Club in Carpinteria this Saturday July 19.

A tailgate party begins at 11 a.m. The game starts at 12:30 p.m.

Teams have been practicing for weeks, learning plays and positions. This will be a flag football game.

Kiersten Hess with the Alzheimer’s Association says it’s been challenging but the cause is well worth it. “I don’t think any of us imagined when we signed up how amazing, competitive, intense and fun this would be. We have about 30 people on each team and we have coaches, volunteers and referees. It’s been a team effort for everyone that has signed up,” she said.

The players each raised at least $500. for the cause. Already the fundraising has exceeded $25,000.

Tickets are available in advance for $20. or $25. the day of the game. Kids are free. There will be a children’s zone, games, face painting and other activities.
