SB Co. Fair A Big Success

The 2014 Santa Barbara County Fair turned out to be a big success. On Monday, officials released numbers indicating the fair, which concluded its 5-day run on Sunday, was one of the best ever in the 123-year history of the event.

Interim Fair CEO Joe Brengle said ideal weather played a big role in bringing in big crowds to the fair, which featured several new attractions this year. “Dollar Day started the Fair off with great attendance, as many families took advantage of the discounts that were offered for admission and carnival rides,” said Brengle.

Overall, attendance at the Santa Maria Fairpark was 143,283, an increase of 3.9 percent from 2013. The carnival also saw an increase from last year, climbing 4.6 percent. The Jr. Livestock auction saw a record breaking number set this year, earning $2.8 million. That mark easily broke the old record of $2.4 million set just last year.

Planning for the 2015 Santa Barbara County Fair is already underway. Dates for next year’s event are July 15 th through the 19 th .
