Man Killed In Lompoc Area Crash Identified

The identity of the man killed in a car crash on Highway 1 near Vandenberg Air Force Base was released Monday.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. Sunday north of Santa Lucia Canyon Road. California Highway Patrol said driver 21-year-old Donald Cox from Lompoc, drifted off the road, went down an embankment and overturned the car.

Passenger 21-year-old Nicolas Dibona from North Carolina was killed in the accident.

The driver and another passenger 22-year-old John Rivera were taken to Marian Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Officials said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
