Ventura Doctor Helps Ebola Patients

A well-known Ventura doctor is on the front lines of the deadly fight against the Ebola virus.

Dr. John Fankhauser has been in Liberia for six months helping to prevent the spread of the highly contagious virus that impairs kidney and liver functions. Only 10 percent of the Ebola patients survive.

Friends from the Ventura Global Health Project said he will be in Liberia for another 18 months.

Fankhauser was the former director of the Ventura County Medical Center.

Doctors and other health care workers must wear decontamination suits to protect themselves.

You can follow Fankhauser on his Facebook page.
