Relatives Upset But Not Surprised By DA Decision

Alfonso Limon Jr.’s mother and sister said they were upset and not surprised by the decision not to charge the officers who shot and killed their brother as he walked home in their La Colonia neighborhood.

Ventura County District Attorney Greg Tottern said nine Oxnard police officers were in the midst of a gun battle with three men they were trying to pull over on Oxnard Boulevard. They shot and killed one of the suspects, then mistook Limon for another.

Rebecca Limon said she doesn’t understand how they could shoot her brother 21 times and not face any criminal charges.

Prosecutors said the suspect, Jose Zepeda Jr. , who was killed by officers would have faced charges for Limon’s death if he survived.

Two other men after facing lesser charges.

The Limon family received nearly $7 million dollars from the Oxnard Police Department for the loss of their loved one.

Rebecca Limon said her 21-year-old brother was one of six children. He was studying art. She said they would give the money back in a heartbeat to have Alfonso back.
