Port Hueneme Police Arrest Man Wanted for Murder

Port Hueneme police have arrested a man wanted in a fatal stabbing.

Tips led police to locate Ruben Gonzales at a bus stop near the Pacific View Mall.

Gonzales was wanted for a stabbing a person to death inside the Mar Vista Apartments on Scott Street.

The crime happened at about 9:24 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police dispatch received several 911 calls about the stabbing. Officers arrived and found the victim inside his apartment with a stab wound. The man was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center where he died. The victim’s identity is being withheld until family is notified.

Port Hueneme police detectives interviewed witnesses who helped identify Ruben Matthew Gonzales, 29, as the man responsible for the murder.

Gonzales was booked into the Ventura County Jail. His bail was set at $500,000.
